Automotive research company based in Berkshire urgently seeks a Programme Planning Engineer for a contract position to ensure the company has up-to-date information on the latest UK vehicle launches.
Main duties of the position
> To research all new UK vehicle launches and VM future product development plans
> To ensure all internal databases are maintained with up-to-date information
> To communicate all relevant data and knowledge throughout the company organisation in a clear and timely manner
> To analyse and report on future vehicle development trends in order that company's research and operational activities are appropriately directed.
Complexity
The position will allow a high independence of action, being primarily to develop and maintain a comprehensive internal database on current and future VM new model launches, reporting direct to the Director of Research. The position requires experience of Vehicle Manufacturers. The position requires initiative, a medium level of strategic thinking and the ability to act independently.
Impact
The long term goals of this role are clearly determined. There is no supervisory aspect to this role. The position will entail responsibility for establishing and maintaining a detailed internal database and ensuring that the data is collected in a timely manner.
Knowledge
The position requires experience of working with or within a Vehicle Manufacturer and a detailed understanding of this particular culture. There is a specific requirement for a formal automotive or mechanical engineering qualification, preferably a degree. Wide experience of VM culture and automotive engineering may compensate for a lack of formal qualifications
Communications
The candidate should have good proven interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to influence others, both internally and externally. The candidate should also have good communication skills and be able to confidently, precisely and briefly present information to internal and external parties.
Overall position within organisation
This position replaces the OEM Programme Manager role. This person will report direct to the Director of Research. At present it is not planned that this person will have any direct reports. However, if there is a clear business need to expand the activities of this function this will be considered at the appropriate time.
