Description
Based in the south-west, our client is a world leader offering a complete range of design, build and support solutions across both defence and commercial sectors. In addition to its marine refit and maintenance role, our client working at the earlier stages of major ship design and construction programmes. In the commercial sector they undertake high-tech engineering composite work, overhaul railway equipment and are involved with large yachts and specialist craft. They also undertake nuclear activities, building on their existing skills and project management experience.
Our client now has opportunities for Nuclear Design and Safety Engineers. Working with specialist technical teams, you will be responsible for the evolution of design solutions and safety strategies to meet site-licence requirements. You will be involved in developing design solutions and safety cases from the detailed design phase through commissioning to operation.
Highly motivated with a pragmatic approach, you should have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be able to plan work effectively. Ideally, you will have solid experience both in the nuclear industry and in safety case methodology. With dedicated project management experience, Nuclear Decommissioning Projects, Nuclear/Radioactive Waste Management and Radioactive Materials Transport & Packaging experience would be an advantage. Knowledge of Nuclear Reactors and related Systems Engineering, outages and site support systems, Mechanical Design for Nuclear Safety & Licensing, Mechanical handling, lifting arrangements/integrity, Pipework, pumps, valves, fluid systems would also be beneficial.
Ideally degree qualified in mechanical, electrical, chemical, fire engineering, physics, chemistry, ergonomics, psychology etc. or holding an MSc in Safety/Reliability or Nuclear engineering.
