Reporting to the Marine Design Manager the role involves preparing designs for marine structures from the enquiry stage through to completion of production designs. The role also includes supporting the commercial and R&D teams in both business development and the continuous improvement of products and services.

Key tasks:
- Design and analysis activities, to respond to enquiries, prepare working designs and manage approval.
- Supporting the marine manager by providing rapid technical response to enquiries, with outline design proposals and estimates.
- Preparing design submissions to regulatory bodies.
- Supporting R&D with technical advise and guidance on the latest industry practices.
- Contributing to the continuous development of company technologies.
- Assisting in promotional activities as required.

Key knowledge:
- Degree qualified Naval Architect / Structural Engineer.
- Proven experience in a production design environment
- Knowledge of engineering design using traditional engineering calculation methods, as well as first principles techniques (e.g. finite element analysis)
- Recent experience of design or engineering calculations in a production environment.
