Mechanical Project Engineer - Tyne & Wear

To direct and manage project technical requirements through liaison with new and existing clients to ensure that completion is achieved within budget and agreed timescale.

To establish project technical requirements through regular liaison with new and existing clients.
To direct and manage design and site based resources to meet project time and budgetary constraints.
To ensure 3rd party pipeline designs are completed to expectations
To establish and strengthen standard engineering offering related to PIP
Ensure all bought out equipment associated with projects is correctly specified.
Represent in engineering design discussions with, for example, Clients and sub-contractors
Have complete project management responsibility and accountability (including commercial responsibility) for smaller projects (c £125K).
Regularly monitor actual project progress against initial agreed schedule instigating corrective measures where necessary to ensure deadlines are met to ensure client satisfaction.

EDUCATION / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

Required:

Qualified to Degree level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Piping related discipline
Minimum 3 to 5 years Mechanical Piping Design / Engineering experience obtained in an industrial process engineering environment (preferably within the Oil, Gas or Petrochemical industries).
Knowledge of piping design software (typically PDMS and/or PDS) and pipe materials and fittings
Computer literate able to utilise in-house design software packages and proficient in a wide variety of MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Project)

Preferred:

Some knowledge of Electrical Heat Tracing applications.
Some experience of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) as applied to pipeline design and stress analysis
Be willing and capable of progressing to a full Project Manager role.
