Mechanical Project Engineer from a medium to heavy mechanical handling/fabrication background.
The world leading specialist in the manufacture of wire and rope solutions for the most demanding of engineering environments.
The client provides solutions to the most arduous and technically demanding challenges, extensively used in construction, mining, oil & gas extraction, telecommunications, automotive components and other specialised areas of engineering markets where there can be no compromise over product performance and integrity.
Looking to extend their current team, my client are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer with process and handling experience based at the Doncaster location.
Job Function
To provide a practical and cost effective engineering service to maintain and improve the performance of the manufacturing unites. This will be involve both capex funded projects and day to day support to manufacturing.
Responsibilities
Full Engineering Project life cycle with budgets from £1k to £5m, involving the design of new equipment or modification of existing plant. To work individually or as part of a team, dependant on size and scope of project.
-Liaise internally to identify engineering requirements. Externally with specialist consultants and sub contractors as necessary.
-Specification will include structured risk assessment, design verification, procurement and documentation/implementation of operating and maintenance procedures.
-Project Management to include timescale, financial control and service suppliers.
-Management and daily supervision of draughting service (varies due to project requirements).
-Co-ordinate and supervise both internal and external resource on site.
-Ensure that company and legal Health & Safety procedures are maintained at all times.
Core skills & experience
In order to undertake this role, the following skills and experience are deemed necessary:
-Design of equipment from concept to manufacturing detail; thorough knowledge of standard mechanical engineering. This will require understanding of machining and fabrication methods.
-Materials calculations and selection. .
-Appreciation of small scale Civil engineering and electronic motor drive systems would be highly advantageous.
-Estimation and planning of project proposals.
-Reporting both verbally and written to board level.
-FEA experience an advantage, along with AutoCad 2D and Inventor 3D preferred. MS Office Suite experience (Word, Excel, etc)
Some national and international travel may be required so flexibility and a passport are necessary.
