A new 33MW biomass power station was recently opened in 2007. Together with coal fired Cogeneration plants, a gas turbine and a long standing track record of burning alternative fuels, the existing 200MW power station is one of the most diverse and technically challenging plants in the world.
The company is based in the North East on one of the largest Petrochemical sites in Europe. The core business is to supply steam and power along with a wide range of essential support services. The company employs more than 600 people and with total assets of almost $7 billion and 11,000 staff, they are keen to see their businesses grow through the skills and talents of their people.
They are now recruiting a Plant Engineer (mechanical) to provide engineering support to a Maintenance Department serving an extensive and diverse Utilities Power and Steam generating asset base. You will have a proven background in generating repair specifications, inspection specifications and PM/PdM routines while working to engineering standards and current regulations. Good knowledge of Power Stations or Heavy Industry would be beneficial.
Specific responsibilities will include:
•Set and deliver plant mechanical engineering standards to comply with defined statutory and business standards. Identify areas for improvement in compliance and carry out improvements to agreed programme. Identify opportunities for more cost effective application of existing or revised standards.
•Prepare, agree and control annual maintenance budgets for the area. Facilitate the analysis of maintenance spends and the identification and implementation of cost improvement initiatives.
•Devise and implement plans to improve equipment reliability and capability to meet plant production targets.
•Define and implement asset maintenance programmes and procedures for all plants to maintain or improve the asset condition.
Qualified to Degree/HNC level and with experience of engineering and equipment maintenance in the plant area or similar operation, you will have IT skills (use of Maximo or similar, spreadsheets, word processing etc) and a good understanding of maintenance and engineering procedures. Enhanced analytical and problem solving skills in the engineering area are also required, as is the ability to drive.
This is a permanent role and benefits will include stakeholder pension (employer contribution 7% if the employee contributes a minimum of 2% of their gross salary); company paid BUPA for employee and family; 41 hours per week; discretionary performance bonus (after 1 year), 26 days company holiday plus statutory days.
