Overall function of the job
> To bring innovation and new technology into the company.
> To create mechanical designs, drawings and information packages for water treatment equipment that will be manufactured on a repeatable basis.
> To update and modify products as required by our policy of cost reduction and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities and tasks
(Identify key results areas of the job and state performance standards required)
Key result area No 1 Product Development
To work, both individually and as part of a team or teams on the design of new products in accordance with a design brief and to agreed timescales.
Key result area No 2 Cost Reduction
New and innovative designs and manufacturing technologies are utilised to reduce and minimise product costs.
Key Results Area No.3 Creation of drawings, BOMs, Specifications, etc.
Drawings, BOMs, specifications, and other engineering information is produced in a timely manner in accordance with agreed timescales.
Key Results Area No.4 General Administration
General administration duties are carried out accurately and in a timely manner. These include but are not limited to administration of
1. Modification notes.
2. QA procedures.
Key Results Area No.5 General Duties
In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to carry out such tasks as may be delegated by their manager, generally within the scope of the job description.
Key Results Area No.6 Health and Safety
Health & Safety procedures must be complied with at all times in order to maintain a safe working environment. Work areas should be kept clean and tidy at all times.
Key Results Area No.7 Quality Procedures
All aspects of work is carried out and documented according to company and departmental quality procedures, particularly QAP 042 Design and Development (Industrial Products)
> Good Mechanical Engineering Degree.
> An innovative approach to product design and problem solving.
> A practical ability is essential to the role in designing equipment.
> Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
> A high degree of flexibility is required to ensure project targets are met.
> A working knowledge of AUTODESK software products, particularly AUTODESK INVENTOR or MECHANICAL DESKTOP or other 3D design software packages.
> A high degree of computer literacy is essential.
> Travel to other VWS and customer sites either in the UK or overseas may be required.
> Security and confidentiality is a vital part of development work and the position is subject to the signing of a confidentiality agreement.
