POSITION: Mechanical Engineer, Materials Specialist
LOCATION: Amsterdam, Netherlands, with requirement for international travel.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
member of a small team, the mechanical engineer will initially plan and manage significant scopes of work within the ongoing technology development programme, working with the Companys licensees as well as third party engineering specialists and academic institutions.
The Mechanical Engineer will also be an integral part of the project management team providing technical support for the engineering and design of unfired heat exchangers for application on oil refineries, gas processing and petrochemical plants.
The work will require site visits as well as desk studies.
The Mechanical Engineer is expected to be able to:
•Formulate and implement plans for a fit-for-purpose development programme to achieve technical requirements
•Cooperate with and direct external companies in achieving the objectives of the technology development programme;
•Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to deviations in the design or manufacturing and implementing the responses where needed;
•Monitor and communicate development programme status, business issues and significant technical developments;
•Design expanded metal grids for special applications and evaluate grid design and software and be familiar with manufacturing processes;
•Define and coordinate FEA, mechanical and material tests and be able to evaluate and justify the results;
•Continuously improve the Technology in integrated thermal/mechanical design of heat exchangers;
•Provide technical support to heat exchange manufacturer licensees;
•Participate in the training of third parties;
•Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and programme reviews;
•Prepare and deliver technical documentation to third parties.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Applicant should be educated to University Degree standard and possess at least a BSc in an appropriate Mechanical Engineering discipline.
The candidate should have hands-on knowledge of mechanical engineering designs including those for typical process equipment such as reactors, vessels, and heat exchangers. He/she should also be able to demonstrate experience in a production environment and with mechanical design using FEA tools.

A minimum of 5 years related professional field experience will be a distinct advantage.
We are seeking a team worker with good communication and report writing skills in English, who is able to organise and plan activities independently.
The skills required for this position are good understanding of the entire engineering process through detailed design, construction, installation, commissioning and operation.
The candidate should be able to work within the European Union area.
