Mechanical Engineer - Piping - Tyne & Wear

In this position, the designer analyzes customer provided drawings and specifications and designs heating systems that meet the customers technical needs and requirements, whilst taking account of commercial constraints.
Interpret piping and instrument diagrams, plot plans, piping isometrics, piping plan drawings, piping specifications and bills of materials, area classification drawings, and instrument details.
Produce engineering calculations using in-house design software programs and other such tools
Be capable of carrying out the design activities within tight schedules and budgets.

EXPERIENCE
Required:

Educated to HNC or above, proven design experience within a process or piping environment
Technical understanding of piping materials, components, valves, and familiarity with piping isometrics, P&IDs, piping symbols etc
Computer literate able to utilise in-house design software packages and proficient in a wide variety of MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Access)

Preferred:

Previous experience within the Oil, Gas or Petrochemical industries. Experience could have been gained through office based design and/or site based design/commissioning (industrial piping and/or insulation)
Previous knowledge of trace heating design and/or electrical principles would be an advantage
Experience in AutoCad 2007 (or other packages such as Microstation, PDMS etc.)
Full driving licence
