An exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to work for a leading Steel company in the North East.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will, fulfil the following role:
Key Responsibilities:
Production of Mechanical deliverables in support of the Package Lead Engineer including detailed conventional and bespoke equipment specifications, equipment datasheets, General Arrangement drawings, Mechanical Sequence diagrams, Technical reports and studies.
Operating and competently working on an independent basis
Undertaking detailed design and tender documentation for multi discipline projects
Preparing technical schedules
Planning and managing CAD documentation of design work
Ensuring that appropriate design deadlines are met within agreed deadlines and within budget.
Communicate effectively within the multidiscipline design team in addition to Client and Supply Chain representatives to ensure project requirements and expectations are met.
Ensure all technical deliverables and data are prepared and structured in accordance with relevant design codes and standards.
Management of effective change control throughout detailed design.
Effective management and resolution of design confliction.
Ensure the design meets the operational/ design requirements, and any Safety Functional requirements
Check, verify and approve engineering documents in line with the technical specifications
Key Skills:
Working knowledge of pressure/vacuum systems
Design of bespoke equipment
Knowledge of process systems
Collation and preparation of detailed equipment specifications
Effective management of supply chain interfaces
Experience of mechanical handling systems and equipment, Gas process equipment handling pressurised flammable liquids & gases
Qualified to Degree level in Engineering plus relevant post graduate professional experience.
Preferably Chartered Member of a relevant Institution
Be a committed and talented mechanical designer with experience working in an engineering environment.
IT skills
Good communication skills, dealing with other employees and external clients
Confident, proactive character, ability to take the lead in challenging situations
Have a flexible approach and be a team player
