My client is leading the way in healthcare with technology for patient monitoring, imaging, information delivery, and more. They currently have a requirement for a Mechanical Engineer.
Job Description:
Responsibilities
This is a great opportunity to be part of a dynamic team, focusing on delivering and supporting world-class hardware for use in clinical whole body MR systems.
The role is part of a Global Magnet/Gradient engineering team and will be based in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, but will require travel as needed to integrate with the global team.
The company's products are key components of MRI scanners. The Mechanical Engineer will take full ownership of mechanical design issues with a particular initial emphasis related to gradient coil design and manufacture. This will involve the use of simulation tools to predict static and dynamic loads, and thermal performance as well as component design and manufacturing process tooling.
The ME will have responsibility to liaise with the global team and plan their own work to match project requirements. He or she will design, verify, validate and document components and devices for the company's products. As part of a medical device the products are highly regulated and an understanding of the needs of a quality system to ISO and FDA standards are essential. The gradient coils undergo extreme levels of vibration in use and long-term reliability is a key outcome of any development program, therefore understanding of design for reliability will be an advantage.
