Our client requires a Mechanical Engineer to join their busy team based in Swindon.

The successful Mechanical Engineer will primarily focus on the refurbishment, repair and maintenance of Wind and to a lesser extent Hydro mechanical assets throughout initially the UK and then wider Europe.

This role has the potential to be based at any of our clients UK offices and therefore we welcome applications from candidates who are willing to consider a permanent role based in any of the following locations.

Swindon, North Wales, Mid Wales, Durham & Scotland.

This position will involve candidates working on sites up to 3 times per week with 50% of trips being an overnight stay, our client is also looking to develop its European maintenance teams so travel to Europe will become more frequent in the future.

A driving licence and willingness to travel is therefore essential.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the role will include:
- Delivering, repair and refurbishment projects from inception to completion
- Management of project and maintenance budgets
- Project planning
- Inspection and assessment of mechanical assets
- Developing mechanical asset spares strategy
-Provision of Management Reports

The candidate must be willing to take ownership of solutions and to drive them to satisfactory implementation. They will be expected to work on their own initiative or to work in conjunction with staff in other departments to deliver specialist investigations and projects. Networking and communication skills are critical to success.

Candidates should ideally possess:

- Knowledge and proven capability in the field of mechanical engineering in a power station, wind farm, hydro power plant or large process industry environment.
- Experience of the care, maintenance and fault finding of some of the following systems: gearboxes, rolling element bearings, white metal bearings, couplings, brakes, steel structures and hydraulic systems.
- Knowledge of plant condition monitoring regimes and their implementation.
- Experience of specification writing.
- The successful candidate must be qualified to HNC / degree level or equivalent, leading to membership of a relevant institution.

Salary:

£35,000 - £45,000 p.a.
