Our client is looking to fill a contracting position for a mechanical engineer
The successful candidate will work across a broad range of industrial applications with particular focus on nuclear decommissioning and mining activities.
Initial commitment will be for 3 months with the possibility to extend/commit to further projects thereafter.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsibility for the mechanical side of projects executed by the company, liaising with other project managers and process engineers.
- Ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Working closely with the Projects Manager and other senior engineers, ensuring that required resources are utilised in order to reach a quality conclusion to these projects.
- Validation of design and control over its construction to meet required standards.
- Continued support of projects after completion, involving close liaison with the client.
- Identification of processes within client systems where the company's patented technology would deliver process and cost benefits.
- Design of often novel process plant incorporating proprietary and other technology.
- Commissioning of plant, optimisation for final installation.
Requirements
- The successful candidate should have a minimum of a good bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. They should ideally have some experience of working within the nuclear and/or mining industry.
- Must be competent in delivering bespoke design work.
- The candidate must also have good communication skills (both oral and written), ideally with a proven track record of major client interaction on small to medium sized projects. He/she must be able to work with minimum supervision using their initiative.
- Experience of working to a quality system would be an advantage.
- Being proficient in the use of AutoCad will be a distinct advantage.
- You must be prepared to travel and work abroad for periods of time. The position will be based in Clevedon, but may involve some work in South Africa.
