Excellent opportunity for a degree qualified engineer with commercial work experience within packaged electronics / consumer products development
My client , a manufacturer of data storage enclosure solutions, have an opening for a mechanical development engineer. The role involves working with and providing input to CAD Design Engineers; Specifying products, materials and processes to be used. The successful candidate will also organise and conduct testing to evaluate and verify the performance of our products against specification. Occasional UK and International travel will be required.
Qualifications:
MEng or BEng (2:1 minimum) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Key requirements:
Working as part of an innovative global mechanical design and development team delivering best in class storage enclosures you will ideally have:
1) Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
2) Ideally, a background in electro-mechanical products with a high volume consumer or business bias.
3) Experience of working in cross-functional teams with Electronic & Software Engineers.
4) Experience of working in an On Time, On cost, On Function environment within compressed development cycles.
5) Ability to work alone or as part of a local or global team.
6) Proven delivery of innovative design solutions and a 'hands-on' approach to solving problems.
7) Ability to produce clear and concise test plans and test reports.
8) Experience of products which require agency approvals (UL, CE, TUV etc.).
9) Experience of harsh environmental requirements; Shock and vibration, thermals, EMC, Safety etc.
10) Understanding of shock and vibration testing, acoustic testing and the principles involved.
11) Design of experiments and instrumentation and measurement techniques.
12) Experience in the use of CFD & FEA software (Flotherm & Pro-E Mechanical would be an advantage).
13) Experience of at least one 3D parametric modelling platform (Autodesk Inventor would be an advantage).
14) Knowledge of Labview and Matlab would be an advantage.
15) Proficiency in MS Office applications (particularly Excel) and Internet searches.
16) A full, clean UK driving license is desirable.
