We currently have opportunities for Mechanical Engineers to work in our newly opened office in Crawley, Sussex. There is a vacancy for a Lead design Engineer but also we would welcome applications from candidates at all levels.
The Crawley office can expect to work for a number of major clients including Thames Water, Southern Water and other regional water organisations to deliver a significant number of major projects as a part of the AMP4 capital investment programme. Additionally the Crawley office will provide support to other offices in the United Kingdom.
You will either lead or be a member of experienced multi-disciplinary teams responsible for the optioneering, solution development and detail design of schemes including:
Wastewater treatment works to upgrade the quality of water released into rivers and the sea
Water treatment works to improve, upgrade and enlarge supply
Schemes to help safeguard water supplies including service reservoirs and network projects
Work to start addressing Government plans for new housebuilding
Projects will range in size from less than 50k up to around 50 million looking at new build, quality improvements and asset maintenance
Mechanical Engineers provide technical expertise in the area of all mechanical plant. The work will include the mechanical input from feasibility through to construction and commissioning on a wide variety of projects.
Key tasks will include;
Liaise with clients and contractors to identify opportunities and develop business relationships
Undertake site inspections, carry out feasibility reviews and work up proposals for the schemes
Produce the technical mechanical specifications and deliverables of the schemes in accordance with current legislation and standards for the scheme requirements
Liase with Subcontractors and deal with technical queries
Undertake factory acceptance testing of mechanical plant
Testing and commissioning on site
To be successful in one of these roles, you will have a mechanical engineering degree (or equivalent) and be a member (or be working towards membership) of a relevant engineering institution. You will have experience of working on the mechanical elements of water and wastewater treatment works and water and wastewater networks and pumping stations. In addition to the required technical skills, you should have the ability to work well within a team environment, have a strong client service focus and excellent organisational skills.
