Mechanical Design Engineer
My client is a world leader in the Design and manufacture or electric motors, industrial joysticks and control systems for electric vehicles. Through significant investment and innovation over the last 4 years the company has developed an innovative motor/drive package offering enhanced efficiency and major performance benefits. Through key account partnerships the company is now applying this new technology into strategic markets, namely electric/hybrid vehicles, wind turbines, leisure industry products and underwater propulsion systems.
As a Mechanical design Engineer your main responsibilities will be design of the new product schemes and layouts in conjunction with customers, suppliers and internal departments, creation of design documentation to enable production including component drawings, assembly, documentation and BOMs, general administration tasks including documentation control and supplier queries, processing modifications to existing designs using engineering change note system, assisting in reviewing design system/methods in order to constantly improve, including Solidworks, AutoCAD and all design procedures, assisting in setting up and controlling value engineering methods for cost reduction programmes, supporting sales with design, technical and application support including raising and maintaining appropriate files and supporting production with design and technical support.
My client is looking for someone who is preferably degree qualified (minimum HNC Qualified) with considerable relevant experience, mechanical apprenticeship/ experience of hands on engineering would be desirable, understanding of limits and fits required, experience of designing rotating mechanical equipment preferred (ideally electric motors), experience in Solidworks 3D modelling software is essential, familiarity with COSMOS preferred, capable of working both alone and as part of a small team, enthusiastic with the ability to learn qui8ckly, flexible and able to prioritise tasks, effective time management skills and someone who is willing to give long term commitment to the company.
My client is offering an excellent salary which is £30-£35K plus a company pension scheme, up to 33 days paid holiday including bank holidays, staff sports and social club and free on site parking.
