Essential
HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Have knowledge and experience of a FEA Stress analysis package
Experience in the use of 3D CAD
Strong analytical skills
The ability to efficiently organise and co-ordinate their work with the ability to provide innovative solutions and to communicate them to peers.
Mechanical Engineer
Design and engineering of servo controlled gimballed satellite communication antenna assembly for naval application.
Required to perform the full lifecycle of mechanical engineering developments (concept through to production)
Conceptual design and detail design using 3D CAD
Conducting stress FEA and thermal (CFD) analyses and assessments (manual calculations)
To contribute to Mechanical Engineering Make Buy processes.
Preparation of statements of work for mechanical subcontracted work.
Working as part of multidiscipline team.
Designing for cost and manufacturability.
Essential
HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Knowledge and experience of a FEA Stress analysis package
Experience in the use of 3D CAD
Strong analytical skills
Design of complex mechanical assemblies, machining, fabrications and castings and the selection of materials, fasteners and protective coatings.
Analysis of mechanical tolerances
Fully conversant with concurrent engineering techniques
Knowledge and experience in the design of equipment to withstand shock and vibration
An analytical and methodical approach to design work with sufficient commitment and drive to see the task through even when adverse conditions are encountered
Preparation of technical specifications for components and for subcontracted items including definition of outline control documentation
Product design from concept to manufacture
The ability to efficiently organise and co-ordinate their work with the ability to provide innovative solutions and to communicate them to peers.

A thermal analysis package
The use of Catia V5
Design to Military Standards
Able to work on own initiative within a busy Engineering department with the minimum of supervision
Conceptual design and engineering of servo controlled machines/ mechanisms
Have experience of:
Motion control systems and the selection and application of Motors, Bearings, Sliprings and Resolvers.
Design of military Radar or Satcom systems
Cooling and heating techniques for RF / electronic equipment
Design of weatherproof EMC / RF / EMP enclosures for harsh environments
Preparation of statements of work for mechanical subcontracted work
Design and routing of waveguides and antenna equipment
Producing test specifications and procedures for military equipment
Successful candidates will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment.
