My client specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of public information display systems. They are a leading innovation engineering company that has been leading the design and manufacture of passenger transport hardware, transport information and communication technologies for over 30 years. They are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their well established design team on a permanent basis.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will be responsible for taking projects from conception through to manufacture whilst liaising with clients throughout the project and also being on-site when installation takes place. You will make your own enquiries with suppliers to order materials and make sure the delivery and project runs smoothly. You will predominantly be designing throughout the project stages whilst working alongside other colleagues on other projects.
The Mechanical Design Engineer my client is seeking will preferably be educated to degree level or equivalent in a Mechanical Engineering discipline. You will need to be fully conversant in the use of Autodesk Inventor or Mechanical desktop as these are the two CAD packages used by my client. You will design the structural work around the display systems so an industrial / architectural background would be advantageous. Design of sheet metal parts is essential due to this being a large element of my client's projects.
The salary bracket for the mechanical design engineer position is between £30,000 and £35,000 but this is negotiable dependant upon skills and experience. Benefits include 25 days holiday, life assurance, contributory pension etc.
