Description
Mechanical Design Engineer
Our Client specialises in Diagnostic and Magnification Products for professionals in the Optical and Healthcare Industries.
They are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Mechanical Design Engineer capable of generating innovative solutions and progress them from concept to production, specifically, optical and electro-optical enclosures in a range of materials for use by the medical community.
The Role:
Design of mechanical components and products within time scale constraints, producing manufacturing documentation using 3D CAD tools
Responsible for all mechanical design input when working as the sole mechanical design resource within a project team
Preparation of detailed manufacturing documents for mechanical components to approved procedures and guidelines
Liaison with project team, manufacturing, purchasing and suppliers to ensure requirements are met
Support of existing products via change notes
Should make suggestions to improve departmental performance and techniques
Requirements:
Engineering qualification (ideally a degree in mechanical design or similar)
Experience with 3D CAD tools, ideally SolidWorks PDM
DFM, FMEA, Lean desirable
Basic Metals & Plastics materials knowledge desirable
Some experience in some of the following areas: plastic injection mouldings, sheet metal, pressed metal parts, castings, machined components, and rapid prototyping
Experience of working within an ISO9001 quality system desirable
Self-starter and able to work with little supervision
Sound engineering judgement, accurate
Able to communicate effectively
