Mechanical Design Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Mechanical design engineer to work on a variety of projects incorporating jigs, tooling, fixtures, and special purpose machinery for a broad range of industries.
ELEMENTS:
•Projects for yellow goods, rail, aerospace, process, materials handling, and automotive industries.
•Could be small carbon fibre jigs that fit on the desk right through to 30m long bug jigs used to turn a rail carriage over.
•Jigs, fixtures, tooling, machine tools, robot cells, automatic welding machinery, product handling systems, assembly machines, testing and inspection machines, production support equipment.
•SOLIDWORKS 3D modelling, training provided.
•Will be working with project managers, responsible for the design side only, working with suppliers and selecting parts from catalogues.
•Some projects are manufactured on site, others are built at customers premises as required.
•Mechanical problem solving.
•Requires a practical approach to engineering, and the ability to think laterally.
•Must have a thorough understanding of engineering.
