Our Client, an established defence industry supplier, has developed and patented a range of innovative electro-optical technologies for a range of applications, manufactured and distributed to a world-wide customer base, from their premises in East Kent. They have the requirement for a Mechanical Design Draughtsperson, to assist in the design and development of new products and participate in the commissioning and support of Company products.
Our Client, an established defence industry supplier, has developed and patented a range of innovative electro-optical technologies for a range of applications, manufactured and distributed to a world-wide customer base, from their premises in East Kent. They have the requirement for a Mechanical Design Draughtsperson, to assist in the design and development of new products and participate in the commissioning and support of Company products. Candidates must have experience of using a 3D CAD system in a manufacturing environment. They should be educated to at least HNC level, preferably with a degree. Owing to the nature of the work, a precision engineering background is preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•To create and update solidmodels and assemblies using Solidworks
•To create and update Solidworks drawings in line with BS8888 and company practices.
•To produce design-related documentation, including specifications, manuals, assembly instructions, illustrations, costings and test procedures.
•To work together with other members of staff to ensure that designs are completed in accordance with the brief and are fully understood by other members of the design team
•To participate in departmental and project-related meetings, including Design Reviews.
•To provide technical support both within the Company and to external customers.
•To work with purchasing when external suppliers are supplied to ensure the successful and cost-effective implementation of new product designs.
•To generate accurate bills of materials on company's MRP system.
•To liaise, as required, with manufacturing to ensure designs are practical and cost effective.
•To assist, as required, in the production and testing of prototypes
•To maintain clear records of all design work including calculations and test results, with said records saved on the computer network in line with agreed procedures.
•To ensure that configuration control is rigorously enforced with issue status always clearly identifiable and up to date on documents, databases and the manufacturing system.
•To facilitate the internal audit process when required through the provision of necessary information.
