Our Client is a manufacturer of street lighting and is looking for a CAD Design Draughtsman.
You will be required to design and detail new, modify and improve existing products in accordance with the design process QM006. Duties will include using SolidWorks to design new products and components, checking and providing approval to drawings through the Meridian drawing management system and attending design process meetings and reviews as required. You will provide new and existing product/equipment training, visit site to carry out evaluation or manage remedial work and produce concept designs and costings. Candidates must have a HNC qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline. You must have a practical engineering background, ideally having served an apprenticeship or equivalent. You must be a competent Solid Works user and have a good working knowledge of materials and batch production methods (fabrication, sheet metalwork, spinning, sand and gravity die casting etc). Excellent communication skills are essential as candidates will be expected to work closely with all departments as well as suppliers. As well as working as part of a team candidates should be able to work on their own initiative, work flexibly and respond quickly and positively to all requests.
