BUSINESS OVERVIEW:

An opportunity has arisen within the Procurement & Supply Chain Capability function within the Submarines Business. We are looking for an individual to join the team as a Material Controller on a subcontract basis , working within the Electrical Controls and Secondary Propulsion Operational Business Unit ( OBU ) based in Derby UK potentially until end 2008.


JOB SPECIFICATION:


To manage commitment acceptance with the supplier, establishing commencement of deliveries schedule.
To ensure suppliers provide credible and achievable manufacturing programmes and operate a risk management process.
To continuously monitor supplier delivery reliability, encouraging improvements in lead times and instigating recovery plans where required.
To understand and monitor suppliers' load/capacity plans and provide early warning on problems that might affect delivery/programme delays.
To progress and report on day to day activities on purchase orders.
To contribute to the management of in contract technical issues.
To participate in the supplier measurement and development process for performance and cost.
To contribute to the non- conformance process via the concession applications.

HNC or equivalent in an appropriate discipline or extensive experience.
Membership of or studying for CIPS or related professional institute.
Familiarity in the use of SAP would be an advantage.
