Master Required to be at sea from 9:00am Monday - Friday. The vessel will be moored on the UK East Coast from The Thames - Dunbar.

MASTER:
The successful candidate will be required to board the vessel at 9am Monday morning and will be at sea from Monday to Friday on a weekly basis. The vessel will be moored on the East Coast of the UK, from The Thames to Dunbar.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience of working on small boats with a small crew
Ability to supervise, direct and manage
Trawling experience
Winch experience
Knowledge of operational area
Computer literate in e-mail and word.
Good verbal and written skills
Accuracy
Flexible, proactive and a team player
Able to work under pressure and prioritise
RESPONSIBILITIES:
> Responsible for the command, control and safety of the vessel, her crew and scientific personnel embarked for specific tasks.
> Ensure that the vessel is operated to the correct standards of safe navigation, pilotage, and seamanship, engineering and shipboard management.
> Responsible for maintaining the statutory and operating documentation of the vessel, as listed in Standing Orders.
> Comply with all Standing Orders in force in respect of the Vessels operational requirements.
> Liaise closely with the Customer/scientific personnel.
> Ensure that the CSV operates in compliance with all safety regulations.
Assess risks, documenting them in the RA Log as set
> Report any hazard, accident, near miss or dangerous occurrence.
> Adopt and maintain the highest levels of professional competence whilst carrying out all ship operations duties.
> Be proficient in the operation of any equipment they are required to use and highlight any training needs.
> Identify and report vessel faults and defects.
> Ensure that maintenance records are kept.
> Ensure that all operations and equipment are carried out/operated in accordance with the highest safety standards.
> Comply fully with all operational procedures to ensure that the CVS complies with appropriate MCA requirements.
> telephone contacts, purchase orders, invoices, material requisitions, receipts etc
> Ensure good forward planning and that the shore support organisation is well informed in respects: Maintaining up to date records e.g. Souls on Board, Leave, Log sheets, vessel utilisation, crew absence and reasons for sick, doctor's certificates, records such as Next of kin, telephone contacts, purchase orders, invoices, material requisitions, receipts etc
> Keep navigational charts up to date and in good order.
> Preparing and forwarding Emergency cover, days off and similar rota lists
> Be responsible for limited budget responsibility for ships supplies.
> Be responsible for maintaining inventory effects on vessel.
> Be responsible for deployment of survey equipment.
> Liaise with the customer, i.e., Environment Agency
> Undertake additional operational duties as directed by the Contract's Manager as required.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
> Dot-Deck Officers Class 4 Certificate with command endorsement or Service as Yacht master Offshore (Motor) or An Equivalent.
> Medical Fitness Certificate (DoT ENG1)
> First Aid DOT First Aid at Sea Certificate or Certificate Issued on completion of First Aid approved by the HSE or RYA Small craft First Aid Certificate
> Radio Qualifications Certificate suitable for radio equipment on board
> Basic Fire fighting 2.5 day course
> Basic Sea Survival 1 day course
> Clean driving licence
