The Person:
*Extensive experience in design of coastal or marine based developments such as harbours, jetties, quay walls, sea walls, breakwaters, groynes and marinas.
*Knowledge of coastal dredging, filling and earthmoving.
*Prepare and administer operational and project budgets.
*Project management experience and a high level of proficiency in drafting reports and correspondence.
*Lateral and creative thinking as the role will be strongly advisory. Able to solve complex problems to find solutions that are in line with best international practice.
*You will have a civil engineering degree from a reputable organisation.
*Plan, prioritise, assign and direct the work of Consultants, sub-contractors and all other personnel involved in the project.
*Preference will be given to candidates with experience of port or harbour operations and in particular the management of the movement of vessels.
Role/Responsibilities:
*The Marine Infrastructure Operations Engineer will play a key role in the operation and functionality of the project. It will require design and planning to ensure the best operating practice is established in order to ensure coastal protection and operational efficiency of the project. You will be responsible for the following areas:
*Provide technical assistance and support to the Project Management team in coastal engineering during the planning and development stages.
*Develop, plan and direct operations and maintenance activities for maritime infrastructure and facilities. Undertake research and prepare reports and studies into marine engineering and environmental issues.
*Estimate quantities, materials cost, equipment and labour to determine budgets, project feasibility and prepare and maintain project programs.
*Assist with the procurement of goods and services (RFQs and bid assessments)
*Responsible for the implementation and enforcement of workplace health and safety procedures including pollution control.
*Provide professional support for statutory approvals associated with the development.
*Provide development proposals and report on the cause and effect on the coastal zone and waterways.
*Undertake regular field observation, arrange numerical or laboratory modelling and GIS to identify potential issues.
