Salary circa £22-28,000 (depending on experience)

Due to continued market success this highly successful global organisation with HQ in the US and T/O of over $5bn is seeking an ambitious, quick thinking individual to work at their smart manufacturing facility in West Berkshire, producing high specification electro-mechanical products.

The role is likely to suit an HNC / HND+ qualified individual in an engineering or manufacturing related subject with a couple of years work experience within a production environment looking to further consolidate their skills and training, or a more experienced technician / engineer looking for a new challenge.

The position will be varied and encompass development of manufacturing processes, procedures, tooling and equipment for production of electro-mechanical assemblies. This will encompass technical liaison between design, manufacturing and subcontractors with regards to manufacturing issues, and using your experience of lean manufacture / continuous improvement to improve manufacturing efficiencies.

Key responsibilities will include

Ensuring tooling, layouts, processes and other physical plant requirements are available and optimised for the manufacture, (including looking at assembly and test of products and whether the production schedule will be met)
Adopting a hands-on approach with involvement in planning and delivering tasks on time and to budget
Supporting team Continuous Improvement activities
Identifying process improvements
Liaising with the customer, suppliers or other external parties as required on technical issues that may impact manufacturing, and more

The ideal candidate will have several years experience of supporting manufacture within an electro-mechanical production environment and specifically practical experience of electro-mechanical assembly. The ability to read and interpret BOM and mechanical drawings and write clear and concise assembly instructions, design and build assembly and test fixtures to aid manufacture and knowledge of inspection of mechanical components and assemblies is essential. A working knowledge of continuous improvement / lean issues is also highly desirable.
