The organisation - Global design, development and manufacturing organization supplying an extensive range of electro-mechanical products. T/O in excess of $6 bn, with over 80 facilities in 16 countries.
Highly visible position in support of Supply Chain with key accountability for planning, co-ordinating and implementing Manufacturing Engineering actions to support new product development.
As such you will oversee the introduction of new products from initial design concept, providing the technical expertise on:
DFM / DFA issues
Tooling budgets for new projects
Creating of standard operating instructions for new and existing parts
Challenging existing practice and driving forward continuous improvements
Visiting piece part suppliers to advise on technical and quality issues
Train and advise suppliers on your product range
Assist with planning and evaluation of control data at suppliers
Looking at alternative manufacturing methods with a view to cost reduction
Ensure on time delivery to budget
As the role is working hand in hand with supply chain there is the need for some worldwide travel.
The role will suit an HND + qualified Manufacturing Engineer with at least 5 years experience of manufacturing engineering / Production Engineering, ideally gained in support of new product projects or similar. Excellent communication skills and the ability to present is required. Knowledge of continuous improvement / lean tools / six sigma principals highly advantageous.
