Job Title Manufacturing Engineer - New Product Development
Location Dorset

A large Aerospace development and manufacturing company are looking for a manufacturing engineer to work within a project team making New Product decisions as to make or buy and assisting with design for manufacture principals. Experience with electromechanical development and build projects within a high tech sector would be advantageous.

Job Summary:
You will be working within an IPT (Integrated Project Team), acting as the key driver for Manufacturing Engineering input into new developments, applying your technical and personal skills to ensure new products are brought to production on time and to cost and quality requirements.

Key responsibilities In summary :
Acting as key representative of Manufacturing within IPT
Manufacturing Engineering of new products & designs fully utilising PIM & PIP process
Utilising technical expertise alongside DFMA principles with Engineering to ensure designs are fit for manufacture
Working with Programme team to ensure product is designed to or below cost targets

Experience required
Detailed involvement in New Product Introduction and working as part of an IPT
Sound technical knowledge of manufacturing processes
Experience in achievement of real results through application of DFMA
Project Management experience preferable

Qualifications required
HNC minimum
Degree in Engineering preferred


Manufacturing Engineer - New Product Development
Roles & Responsibilities

New Product Introduction
To act as the Manufacturing Engineering authority on development programmes
To support Programme Management in the progression and completion of development programmes
ME Product Introduction Management
To ensure all inputs to PIM are provided in a timely manner
To represent Manufacturing Engineering at PIM reviews and provide necessary input
ME Product Introduction Process
To ensure that all ME PIP tasks are completed in line with programme timeframes
To lead ME PIP reviews and ensure they are held and signed-off prior to PIM review
To ensure that any risks are identified and highlighted within the appropriate risk register
Design For Manufacture
To ensure products are designed for manufacture and assembly, proactively utilising appropriate guidelines
