A member of the manufacturing engineering team, with primary responsibility for engineering project management and continuous improvement, cost reduction, quality improvement and lead time reduction.

MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

Brief Overview:

A member of the manufacturing engineering team, with primary responsibility for engineering project management and continuous improvement (cost reduction, quality improvement and lead time reduction etc).



Key Responsibilities:

Manufacturing engineering responsibilities will include (but not exclusively) Production tooling design & manufacture, new product introduction, product manufacture costing/estimating, production support and management of engineering projects.

To drive continuous improvement using appropriate and innovative tools', in order to achieve overall business objectives of process/material cost reduction, waste reduction, quality improvement and lead time reduction.

To take responsibility and be accountable for the effective management of Capital and Engineering projects.

Work to pre-agreed objectives and targets, as determined by the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and in line with business objectives.

To work within Engineering and other business systems and follow defined procedures.

To achieve World-class engineering standards.



PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

Previous Experience:

Extensive knowledge within a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.

Knowledge of batch manufacturing environment is desirable.

Proven and successful project management is essential.

Proven knowledge of process improvement / value engineering is essential, with particular focus on Six sigma'.

Must be able to demonstrate a high level of achievement in Problem Solving.

Knowledge in CAD, preferably using AutoCAD.

Knowledge in Tool / Jig design.

Knowledge of Control systems engineering (including PLC) would be an advantage.

Knowledge of Machining / Grinding , using CNC equipment , would be an advantage.



Qualifications:

Educated to at least degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline (ideally Mechanical engineering).

Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

High level of computer literacy.
