Lead and co-ordinate UK & International projects where the activities of packaging designers, suppliers, material selection, and the engineering realities of high volume production & automation overlap.
Manufacturing Engineer - Design to Production - Packaging

Branded Consumer Goods
London/Herts Border
A major subsidiary of a £400+Million Turnover Group, and with Manufacturing Operations of its own in a network of locations in the UK, Europe and the Far East, our Client is the World's leading supplier within its specialist FMCG market, with several Flagship Brands that are long-established household names. However regular investment and key acquisitions have, together with an inherent culture of ongoing change & innovation, ensured continued growth and an environment where new ideas are always encouraged.
As a result of internal promotion, an opportunity has been created to apply for this highly influential role, which provides the specialist resource necessary to effectively lead and co-ordinate UK & International projects where the activities of packaging designers, suppliers, material selection, and the engineering realities of high volume production & automation overlap.
Although the focus of the role is on the technical aspects of Packaging through NPD, Existing Product Enhancement, Value/Quality Enhancement and the promotion of Best Practice internally - in terms of materials, technology and production engineering - results will also rely heavily on the personal qualities of the successful candidate. A consultative style is essential, together with natural communication skills and an ability to make things happen - influencing and co-ordinating colleagues and suppliers in manufacturing, engineering, design, procurement & marketing environments.
From a technical standpoint, candidates will need to display a strong engineering background (inc CAD) gained in a volume Packaging / FMCG production environment, coupled with an understanding and genuine interest in packaging materials, design and technology. Other important selection criteria will be: ambition, creativity, a thirst for knowledge & excellence, commercial insight, project leadership skills (ideally multi-functional), ability to organise, self motivation, can initiate but also deliver. Specific knowledge of AutoCAD, Printing and Bar-coding would be an advantage.
