Description

Our client manufacturers complex high precision cast/machined airfoils fitted to gas turbines used in power generation and aircraft propulsion. They have the immediate requirement for two experienced manufacturing engineers to support new and current manufacturing processes, support new product introductions, and to lead and drive continuous improvement activities in the manufacturing areas. This is a full-time, permanent position, paying up to £38k, with additional benefits.

Overall Purpose:

To develop and introduce new manufacturing processes, equipment and facilities in order to increase capacity and throughput, improve safety and product quality and reduce manufacturing costs. To support, develop and improve current manufacturing processes, equipment and facilities in order to increase capacity and throughput, improve safety and product quality and reduce manufacturing costs. To support the introduction of new products to ensure that manufacturing processes, equipment and facilities are capable of and effective in the delivery of required outputs. To support the development of a modern continuous improvement and lean manufacturing culture within the organisation

Key Responsibilities:

•To identify and assess potential suppliers
•To negotiate and agree costs within budget targets
•To develop capital expenditure requests and plans
•To analyse and understand current performance
•To identify waste and opportunities for cost reductions
•To develop solutions for removing waste and cost
•To develop improvement proposals and plans
•To understand and assess the requirements for new or improved manufacturing processes, equipment and facilities
•To develop and implement plans that deliver these requirements on time and within budget targets
•To lead and drive continuous improvement activities
•To use and apply modern lean manufacturing tools and techniques
•To train and coach others in all aspects of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing

Qualifications and Experience:

•First degree or equivalent in appropriate discipline
•Relevant industry experience including:
excellent manufacturing engineering experience
proven project management capability
demonstrated lean manufacturing and continuous improvement application
leadership and team working
structured problem solving
