Dowding & Mills specialises in the refurbishment of electrical equipment including motors and generators and also has expertise in repairing electronic control systems and the associated mechanical driven units such as pumps and gearboxes.
Principal duties and responsibilities
Fault finding and trouble shooting on a wide range of industrial equipment.
Fault finding and trouble shooting on equipment for hazardous area location both on and offshore
Installation, repair and testing of equipment suitable for application in hazardous area locations both on and offshore to ensure compliance with relevant standards.
Installation, repair and testing of onshore electrical installations and equipment to ensure compliance with BS7671:1992 (16th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations).
Working Conditions
Environment:
Primarily onsite attending at customer premises, some workshop work may be required. Possibility of offshore and overseas work.
Working Hours:
8.00am to 4.30pm with one half hour lunch
Attendance:
Monday to Friday, with paid overtime according to job requirements
Attainments
Must have served a recognised 4 year apprenticeship with applicable minimal qualifications.
Must have the ability to work un-supervised.
Ability to read and speak fluent English.
Preferably but not essential Certified to work equipment suitable for application in hazardous area locations i.e., Compex Certificate or equivalent.
Preferably Certified to work to BS7671:1992 (16th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations)
Preferably but not essential holding a valid passport and were applicable must have relevant work visa to work in the UK
Preferably but not essential holding valid Offshore Survival Certificate and UKOOA Medical.
Must hold Clean Full UK Driving Licence or Equivalent recognised Driving Licence
