MACHINE SHOP TECHNICIAN
Reporting to:
Technician Supervisor
Responsible for:
Ensuring the maximum utilisation of equipment and the minimum downtime within the Production Schedule constraints, complying with the company quality standards.

Essential
Recognised engineering apprenticeship, with expertise in production machining techniques, understanding of operational/setting requirements of conventional machines.
Desirable
Knowledge of Statistical Process Control techniques.

Outline of Job Requirements:
To set and monitor cutting tools, jigs and fixtures to ensure their mot efficient and safe use to produce items with minimum quality defects.
The use of NC programme listings and setting sheets.
To understand operators instruction sheets and read engineering drawings.
To be proficient in the setting of conventional and or CNC machines.
To be fully conversant with the operation of conventional machine tools.
To be proficient in the setting of conventional machines to ensure achievement of the desired results.
To operate such machines in meeting the required company quality standard and timely production output.
Have knowledge of a wide range of products and/or processes and be capable of carrying out duties without direct supervisory, quality of technical intervention.
To assist other technicians as required.
To carry out such measurement/quality checks as necessary to determine product status, and action rectification, adjustment and additional tests in order to achieve the requirement.
To be conversant with all administrative requirements and the correct compilation of technical documentation.
To relate the programme sheet to the engineering drawing and programmes.
To specify speeds, feeds and tooling.
To understand fixtures and/or clamping descriptions.
Contribute to CIP teams as required.

Hours:
From 07:30 16:00 Monday Thursday (30 Minute Lunch Break)
From 07:30 12:30 Friday (No Lunch Break)
