Senior Project Engineer
Overall responsibility for all aspects of designated projects.
Achieve agreed design schedules of allocated projects by co-ordinating and directing the activities of nominated project engineers. Achieve scheduled completion of allocated projects within budget to specification with maximum safety and reliability of the plant which is manufactured.
Represent the company on technical and commercial matters in meetings with customers and sub-suppliers.
Principal Accountabilities:
1.To provide an engineering resource to enable operating departments to satisfy customer requirements.
2.To use professional engineering judgement to ensure that Furmanite products and services are safe, effective, competitive and meet all necessary (engineering related) regulatory and legislative requirements (for example, the Pressure Equipment Directive).
3.To develop innovative engineered solutions to solve specific customer problems.
4.To prepare and develop engineering methods, practices and standards.
5.To undertake stress calculations, material selection and related matters.
6.To competently employ advanced analysis tools such as Ansys.
7.Operate the ChemCheck service
8.Provide assistance in estimating the cost of some jobs
Skills and Knowledge Required:
•Engineering Science to degree level.
•Three or more years of relevant mechanical engineering experience (since graduating).
•Basic familiarity with relevant standards (such as pressure vessel codes: PD5500, ASME VIII, B31.3).
•Basic knowledge of relevant engineering practice (eg. pressure vessel & piping, design, fabrication and inspection).
•Detailed knowledge of hardware utilised in some Furmanite field operations and the factors affecting the design of same.
•The ability to innovate, to develop bespoke engineered solutions to customer problems.
•Mathematical skills to degree level.
•Growing competence with analysis software such as Ansys.
•Competence with MathCAD calculation software.
•Reasonable level of competence with AutoCAD.
•Some knowledge of spreadsheets and database software
Nature & Type of Contacts:
•Contacts with Furmanite management and field staff at all levels.
•Contacts by phone and site visits to customers discussing problems and potential solutions.
Working Conditions:
•Mainly office based. Some travel to client sites.

•Desk top computers
•Design equipment (Ansys Finite Element Analysis Package, AutoCAD, MathCAD, MS Office, etc.)
