M&E Surveyor - Reading - Main Contractor - £50m Project

My Client, a Top 10 Building Contractor, are currently looking to recruit an M&E Quantity Surveyor for a major commercial office build in central Reading. The M&E Quantity Surveyor will be responsible to the Services Manager and Project Quantity Surveyor reporting on all commercial and contractual aspects with regards to the M&E and other general surveying duties as required.

THE COMPANY
Provides a comprehensive service for design & build, private finance initiative (PFI) and traditional contracts throughout the UK. Specialising in health, education, commercial, industrial, government, defence, pharmaceutical and retail, their integrated approach involves working in partnership with consultants, designers and sub-contractors.

As the Major Project Division of an International Group, my client have the in house capability of managing the complete installation of the building services element of the works through dedicated M&E site teams responsible from conception to completion for the design, procurement and installation of the services installation.

We are currently looking to recruit an M&E Quantity Surveyor for a major commercial office build in central Reading. The M&E Quantity Surveyor will be responsible to the Services Manager and Project Quantity Surveyor reporting on all commercial and contractual aspects with regards to the M&E and other general surveying duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS
Commercial tendering report in conjunction with the M&E engineers and buyer:
Design reviews and monitoring against the initial cost plan in conjunction with the M&E engineers and buyer so as to ensure:
Monitor and track changes through out the above to allow traceability and justification of buying costs.
Attend Client meetings when required to, for justification of mechanical & electrical costs.
Review and comment on scopes of work developed in conjunction with the design.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The M&E quantity surveyor will be responsible for the monitoring and reporting of all commercial and contractual aspects with regards to the M&E packages the following:

Ensure that commercial and contractual issues are being highlighted and incorporated along with the site team into the package contract documents.
Have a commercial overview with regards to the site risk/opportunities register.
Manage the risk and opportunities for the relevant packages Manage the change order process and ensure relevant costs and information is documented.
Input into any Client variations and attend Client meetings if required to justify costs.
Manage the payment mechanism for all M&E sub-contractors and suppliers.
Monthly and quarterly commercial and contractual reporting of all the M&E packages.
Resolve M&E final accounts.
Identify and manage forecast final out turn costs for all aspects of the M&E on a continual basis.
Prepare fully detailed M&E section for inclusion in
Application for payment submissions to the Employer's Representative. Forecast and monitor Cashflow for M&E section of the works
Assess contract final account commercial costs against initial cost plan and produce a report to highlight over and under costs so as to enable accurate tendering in the future.

THE INDIVIDUAL
Educated to at least ONC level, preferably in a Mechanical or Electrical discipline
Have proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in an M&E environment
Be a strong communicator both - verbal and written
Good IT skills
Excellent commercial acumen
