Description

We are looking for a Senior Software Developer to be a part of newly established company. you will be reporting to Lead Software Developer. You will be eligible to live and work in UK. The job is based in London.

Main Purpose of job:

The Candidate will be the technical lead for software development and will play a key role in the build out of that team.
The candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of contract programmers and participating in code level development as the team leader.
The role will entail solution design, project scoping and planning, and architecture development for a new site, and working together with the rest of the development team in code level programming to deploy complete and reliable working solutions in a timely and professional manner.
The candidate will be expected to stay up-to-date on current developments in Web, SEO and Internet oriented software, software development technology and development methodologies, and should be very familiar with open source development and open source tools and resources available on the Internet.
The candidate will have skills adequate to be comfortable working to tight deadlines in a technically challenging, high profile, revenue-oriented environment.

Authority and Reporting:

* Primary point of responsibility for facilitating communication between the companys business and technical personnel.
* Reporting to the Managing Director, the Lead Software Developer will be responsible for all aspects of software development.
* Participate in the selection and management of external contract development resources
* Participation in the hiring of future in-house software developers
* Key role in the selection of technologies and architectures for company web and enterprise applications.
* Day-to-day development and training/mentoring less experience/skilled staff in software development technologies, software architecture, development methodologies and open source tools and code.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Code level programming
2. Accurate and reliable project scoping, planning and technical architecture development
3. Unit testing, documentation and requirements adherence
4. Producing speed, stability, scalability, flexibility and efficiency testing of software
5. Contributing to future proofing of code and database design
6. Planning and developing new segments of the websites and suggesting ideas for new technology based service offerings
7. Opportunity to advance to Leadership role within the technical side of the company

Experience and Qualifications:

Experience

Required:

* 5+ years with PHP and at least one other leading web development language
* 5 years with HTML and CSS page construction
* Experience with Cake and similar frameworks
* Experience with Ajax and other web 2.0 software technologies
* At least one year in depth experience with data abstraction solutions
* 4 years MySQL and database modelling, creation and management.
* 2 years experience of high transaction Web Software Design and site management.
* Experience with XML.
* Experience with content management systems
* Experience leading a commercial development team
* Experience with Agile development methodologies like XP or Scrum

Useful:

* E-commerce Experience
* Rich Internet Application development (Flex, GWT, OpenLazslo or equivalent).
* Mobile applications experience
* Linux system Admin skills

Qualifications

* Technical degree
* Graduate degree beneficial
* Strong, demonstrable, ability to translate business requirements into working software
* Strong familiarity with web technologies
* Strong solution development and software architecture skills
* Must be able to work effectively in team-oriented environment and follow instructions
* Must have excellent spoken and written English language skills
* Excellent project organization, planning and execution skills
* Comfortable working to tight deadlines
* An understanding of leading software development methodologies
* Familiarity with open source software development
