Description
To carry out the mechanical design/analysis/verification activities on new and existing products within the business. To liaise with other functions, identifying potential mechanical failure modes and recommending/implementing design and process improvements
To capture design requirements. To carry out performance analysis & proof of principal, including design approval/verification on product designs. To conduct peer/design reviews in line with the project lifecycle.
May have some input into the conceptual design & documentation and design certification activities. Also, some responsibility for budgets and timescales.
The purpose of this role is to carry out the mechanical design/analysis/verification activities on new and existing products within the business. A pro-active problem solver who uses own initiative to take ownership of mechanical design issues. Good leadership skills, ability to liaise with other functions, identifying potential mechanical failure modes and recommending/implementing design and process improvements.

Candidates should possess:
Degree in mechanical engineering
Chartered engineering status (desirable)
Essential: Candidates must have expert knowledge of electro/mechanical packaging techniques, including materials and finishes and understanding of stress/thermal failure mechanisms in digital/analogue/MIC design.
Desirable: Knowledge of metals/polymers/composites and interconnection systems. Awareness of risk & opportunity management, budget & resource management. Use of 3D CAD & analysis tools, excellent PC skills.
