Description


The role requires delegation of activities to other engineers and obtaining feedback on status. The role holder must also actively manage the programme, risks and issues for in-service problems and modifications and ensure necessary support for progression of activities. In fulfilling the role, the jobholder will be required to report on the progress of the team to the programme and specialists/experts at design reviews.

The successful candidate will be accountable for the delivery of a fully integrated programme across all engineering disciplines to time, cost and quality. This includes the engineering management of extended enterprises and landing gear suppliers.

To ensure strong customer focus additional responsibilities of the job are to: -
Report progress on a regular basis, in a comprehensive and timely manner
Attend and present design aspects at engineering reviews, as required, with Company/supplier senior management, programme chief engineer, airworthiness authorities and airline customer
Liase effectively and co-ordinate with all interface design teams

The jobholder will be required to work as the co-ordinator of a team of personnel completing design and analysis for all Landing Gear Design activities for the landing gears. The role includes technical leadership, direction and guidance and responsibility for identifying and managing tasks to be completed.

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or a demonstrable understanding of Complex large mechanical components
Familiarity with structural design and analysis techniques, preferably within an aerospace context.
Computer literacy
Ability to work within a changing environment
Management of a Large Mechanical development and suppliers
Ability to use judgement to make technical recommendations based on incomplete or conflicting design data
Good interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to work as part of a team
Experience of producing technical documentation of a high standard to accurately record design evolution

Additional Desirable Qualifications and Skills
Familiarity with systems engineering processes
System definition to safety, reliability, maintainability and particular risk requirements
Airworthiness Regulations (specifically CS 25)
Experience of use of computer based analysis tools with an understanding of their limitations
