My client specialises in the design and manufacture of products relating to reducing the risk of power surges within an highly volatile manufacturing environment, they currently have a requirement for a Mechanical Design Engineer.
My client require mechanical designers to design housing solutions for Electronic products.
My client traditionally use a variety of materials and fabrication methods for their various products. Experience and understanding of some or all of these is required, for example Injection Moulded Plastics, Die Cast Metals, Extrusions, Folded Sheet Metals etc.
Purpose:
To provide technical expertise to manufacturing and development teams to develop and maintain product and process thereby maximizing company profitability.
Responsibilities:
-To apply technical competence to the implementation of design of product and process.
-To ensure self-development under the guidance of the supervising engineer/manager.
-To ensure designs achieve prime cost, functionality, quality and manufacturability targets.
-To take an active part in design and manufacturing reviews as required.
-To ensure that the "Design for Market/Manufacture" procedures are followed in full. In particular :
-To take ownership of any sub-projects allocated by the project/dept manager until the design has been fully signed off by manufacturing i.e. To ensure that the "Monitor early manufacture" process is followed correctly.
-To actively ensure that support services are used appropriately.
-To ensure that all design documentation defined in "Design for Market" is kept up to date and are completed within the project plan schedule.
-To ensure that product and process design reviews are held in the most productive manner and are treated as an integral part of the design process.
-To ensure that information and data required for instruction manuals etc. to enable the product to address the market are made available as required.
-To integrate into and act with the project team to ensure high team performance.
-To contribute, be involved and actively support the continuous improvement process within every facet of the organisation.
