Contributing to technical studies under the close direction of a more senior engineer through for example:

•Carrying out hand calculations and setting up and running computer simulations of straightforward metallic structures.
•Writing sections of reports.
•Generating material for clients to meet information and presentation needs.
•Working to a project plan, drawing attention to any need for technical deviations and time overruns, maintaining corresponding time records.

•Maintaining work files in conformance with QA standards.


Minimum Technical Skills

Conversant with the principles and elementary practice of:

•Engineering principles and methods.
•Core theory of finite element analysis.
•Material failure criteria.
•Engineering drawings, manufacturing methods and practice, etc.
•Word processing and database systems.
•PC hardware and operating systems
•Use of the internet as a source of technical information and data.

Professional Status

•Qualified to first-degree level in mechanical engineering or comparable discipline.
•Associate Member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.
