Job Title: Installation Technician
Salary Range : Up To £24,000

Key skills & experience: Qualified electrician - Part 1 + 2. someone with a completed apprenticeship
Have to go through DV clearance, this can take approx. 6 - 9 months - said they would need to go through this process before they could start.
Process = Interview, Acceptance, DV clearance then start.
Must be willing to spend up to 26 weeks (worst case) away in the UK or abroad in places like the Ascension Islands and The Falklands _ overtime payment during this time.
O/T is Time & a Half and averages out to about 30 hours a month.
Candidates will get 20% of basic every night away and will also get travel allowances.
Applicants will need to be able to terminate, splice and test CAT5 and similar cables and fibre optics. If they can't already they must have the capacity to learn.
Ideal applicants will have an electrical background and have experience working with mains distribution, lighting power & HVAC.
Applicants must be enthusiastic and willing to learn new techniques and equipments.
Will consider people such as lift engineers, FM tupes as well as obvious matches.
Experience, Knowledge, Qualifications and Training:
So as to qualify for the position of Craftsman, it is essential that a combination of skills is available, so that the most effective use of the individual can be made. At a minimum, a Craftsman should possess a combination from each skill set and demonstrate the ability and willingness to gain development both via supplied training and On the Job Learning.
Where a particular element is under developed a basic knowledge with a speciality skill set can be considered.

Mechanical:
Time served Apprenticeship Mechanical
Relevant, practical experience in a related environment
Company supplied familiarisation training
Electrical:
City and Guilds 2931 level 3 certificate of inspection and testing of electrical installations
Time served Apprenticeship Electrical City and Guilds Parts 1 and 2 in Electrical Installations
IEE Regs 16th Edition/or electrical knowledge
Time served Apprenticeship/Qualification Electrical Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)
City and Guilds 2931 level 3 certificate of inspection and testing of electrical installations
? Apprenticeship and Improver Training experience
Working knowledge & experience of electrical installations
Data:
City and Guilds 3466 (structured cabling installation and testing)
Fibre optic installation, splicing and testing experience
Cat 5 installations, termination and testing experience
Cat 6 installations, termination and testing experience
Familiar with the build and configuration of communications rack builds
City and Guilds 3466 (Multimode or Single mode)
Fibre optic installation, splicing and testing experience Practical experience of all types of cable termination and testing
Rigging:
Must have completed Basic Aerial Erection courses and Advanced Tower Rescue courses
Experience and have an up to date knowledge of rigging techniques
Up to date with new technology/developments
Up to date with H&S, CDM Climbing at Heights
Able to maintain the required level of medical fitness for rigging work
