To undertake a full range of software engineering activities within the electro-optical skill area, supplying specialist advice and support across the department and projects as appropriate. Individuals may lead small peer teams and will develop specialist skills in real-time engineering.
Developing and delivering technical solutions to meet Project requirements for:
Development of real-time software to support EO scene generation and RF target generation for seeker and missile test.
Test, documentation and continued support to existing real-time scene/target generator systems on behalf of Projects
Developing and enhancing technical capability within the Sensors & Comms technical domain:
Development of prototype software to deliver sensor and datalink demonstration capability
Development of software functionality for datalinks
On-going support to the department's real-time seeker test facilities
Enhancing the overall software capability and process within Sensors & Comms and providing a local focus for capability
Supporting the Image Synthesis group's responsibilities through:
Day to day management of the department's IT
Supporting the group's research and development to maintain world class capability
Design and development of software solutions to time and budget.
Effective time management of self and any peer team that is led.
'Fit for purpose' nature of technical outputs.
Ability to respond quickly and effectively to customer's needs.
Maintaining skill focus within department
Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, plus a number of years relevant experience.
Able to work from first principles
Specialist knowledge in software engineering, including C++, UML, Linux.
Awareness/experience of electro-optic, RF, communications or media technologies.
Good working experiences in more than one phase of the engineering life cycle
Commercial and financial awareness; able to manage budgets.
Able to control own workload and that of a small peer team, meeting timescales and budgets, up to £200k p.a.
