Job Description:
The IT Support Engineer will be responsible for the following.
1)To raise and log support calls with the Helpdesk database application.
2)To provide total support, 1st to 3rd line for approx 25 servers on the LAN.
3)To provide total support for the user base for all hardware/software and communication products.
4)To be actively involved with backups and restores of all operating systems in use. (MS Windows, UNIX, Linux, VAX & SUN)
5)To install and support where necessary new and upgrade operating systems & applications.
6)To research and implement appropriate software maintenance patches to provide a stable systems environment.
7)To keep abreast with technology advances. To carry out regular disaster recovery tests and produce relevant documentation.
8)To be conversant with IT security and provide support including documentation to MoD standards on company infrastructure, Firewall, Email & Internet components.
9)To be conversant with Network Infrastructure, configuration, Interrogation and fault finding on network switches.
