Role Purpose:
To manage Network Design / Architecture and strategy across the company (including the UK International Connections.) to meet business and customer service demands.

Role Purpose:
To manage Network Design / Architecture and strategy across the company (including the UK International Connections.) to meet business and customer service demands.
Accountabilities
Working with both the business and IM to provide technical support in relation to network services and to lead in Indentifying current / future network technologies to meet requirements generated from IM or the wider business.
To be the design authority with suppliers on the following services: -
WAN / LAN / Voice / Security Barriers / Network Interfaces / Topologies / Protocals
To identify and define solutions relating to the development and improvement of the service by producing recommendations, business cases, and identifying budgets for the Head of UK Networks and IM Management covering either Network Specific or IM Programmes across UK or Group.
Manage 3rd Party suppliers/vendors and outsource providers in identifying appropriate technologies to support the strategy to identify appropriate technological solutions within the constraints of the environment and using Suppliers and Vendors as learning resources
Manage relationships and liaise (working together) with counterparts across UK IT Domains in the deployment of IM Services.
Liaise with the UK InfoSec manager and group InfoSec managers - to adapt standard Technical Solutions to meet the requirements of Security (on a daily basis).
Research, define and deliver policies and procedures as applicable to new networking technologies
Under the guidance of Head of Back Office Domain for UK and under direction from Head of UK Networks Design solutions for, and contribute to the IM UK IT Service Continuity plan and make provision for Disaster Recovery Plans / Processes and Services for Business Critical Applications.
Provide annual technology forecast to support the IM 5 Year capital plans to the agreed finance cost models and timetable.
Report into Head of Networks regarding future technologies with monthly Solution reviews.
Maintain and build on international relationships within an integrated support model (UK/International)
Performance Indicators
Flexible contribution across the IM Domains, including technical, team and individual inputs, evaluated by customer feedback, quality of documentation and demonstrations of sustained financial savings
Establish and manage monthly design reviews with 3rd parties.
Presentation that meets requirement of relevant Control Boards
Maintains own motivation (Projects) and contributes energy and ideas to the Network Team and the IM Group.
Cost reduction Targets achieved with new technology development / implementation to meet or exceed cost reduction targets identified within each project.
Ensures Business impact is minimal during the transition phase of project implementation
Ensures capacity across all networks meets customer needs through regular documented service reviews.
Innovation within constraints of operating environments.
Skills and Knowledge
Background in solution management shown by
Experience of complex network environments including National and International solutions.
Medium to Large Project deployments, developments in multi layered complex organisations.
Can explain IT environments encompassing Client, Server, Applications and Support. (End to end solutions)
Have experience of and can explain IT outsourcing methodologies and communication infrastructures including security solutions and services.
Evidence of liaising and negotiating with 3rd party suppliers
Qualified in CISCO design and planning.
Experience of linking multiple networks with standard Interfaces and security interfaces and managing the relationships within network environments.
Evidence of both good verbal and written communications including Definition Documents, Solution Presentations and Business Case documents
Evidence of successfully leading and managing small to medium project teams.
Successful candidates will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment.
