ICT Systems Engineer
To provide specialist systems engineering and design support to Maritime Systems projects and bids covering the use of ICT technologies within the Maritime domain, including in support of research projects.
The job holder will be expected to undertake software design, development, integration and unit test activities across a range of projects in support of Maritime defence-related research and support to MoD procurements.
The job holder will work individually and within a team environment of multi-disciplined specialists and engineering disciplines to achieve programme results and customer deliverables in a timely and accurate manner.

The successful candidate will have a Maths, Physics, Electrical Engineering or Computing Science background.
Defence domain experience covering the application of COTS IT and Networking technologies would be a benefit as would membership of the IET or BCS.
You will:
Understand open systems and the issues of developing open system architectures;
Be comfortable with abstracting problems such that they become logically solvable in an aesthetic manner;
Be able to communicate complex technical issues clearly and coherently to both internally and externally stakeholders, in both written and presentational form;
Possess a working knowledge of both LINUX and Windows Operating Systems;
Be able to demonstrate practical hands-on experience in programming in C and / or C++ and Java and use of XML.
Be able to use standard systems engineering approaches, e.g. object oriented analysis and UML/SysML tools, to develop and maintain systems architecture models.
Be able to work both individually and within a team environment;
Have a proven track record in delivery on high profile projects.
Desirable Skills:
Possess an understanding of architecture frameworks, especially MODAF;
Have a working knowledge of MoD acquisition management policy and the MOD's Acquisition Management System (AMS).
Experience of maritime or defence systems procurement programmes would also be a benefit.
The successful candidate will possess a first degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, and desirably have either a relevant second degree or Chartered Engineer status.

Able to work to agreed deadlines and deliver services / products to specified quality standards;

There may be the need for occasional work offsite on Customer's premises, UK and overseas.
