Supporting the Council in delivery of quality services to the Borough, through a collaborative alliance co-located in the Civic Offices. The alliance team will be empowered to manage and improve highway assets and transport system, and maintain the Council's Beacon status.
This project offers the unique opportunity for a wide range of experience in the management of some 187 highway structures, together with scope to utilise transferable skills in support of the wider services to the Council.
Responsibilities
• Managing the routine maintenance of highway structures;
• Managing the passage of abnormal loads throughout the Borough;
• Co-ordinating and undertaking structures inspections, including road, river and rail bridges;
• Instructing and supervising works of the highway maintenance contractor;
• Maintaining records of the highway structures assets;
• Design and supervision of capital maintenance schemes;
• Co-ordinating Special Inspections and Structural Monitoring;
• Assessment of structures where necessary to meet capacity requirements
• Ensuring compliance with appropriate design and health and safety standards
You will either be qualified with a degree in Civil Engineering or HNC/HND with good experience working on highway design projects preferably at tender and detailed design stages
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral
• Good time management skills
• Ability to manage a number of ongoing concurrent projects
• Familiar with Microsoft Office applications
• Should be working towards CEng MICE or IEng status
• Clean driving licence required
