A world-renowned organisation, currently the Prime Support Contractor to the Royal Navy, providing comprehensive through-life support for submarines, surface ships and equipment, requires a Health & Safety Manager.
Key Accountabilities
Accountable to Head of Health, Safety, Environment & Quality for the provision of a professional health & safety service to HMNB Clyde and it's Satellites
Ensure those undertaking major projects have suitable SHEF arrangements established that reflect the Base's health & safety requirements.
Ensure HMNB Clyde and its Satellites receive adequate SHEF support and are included within the Active Monitoring Programme.
Lead and co-ordinate the identification and reporting of performance standards with respect to health & safety.
Ensure that a viable pro-active system is in place to assist in the management and control of contractors.
Provide the departmental focal point for all aspects of Fire Safety including the development of policy, provision of advice and liaison with AFPO(N) DFS.
Lead and motivate the health and safety team to deliver the Base requirements.
Direct and undertake the technical review of legislation, MoD standards etc so that matters which may have a material effect on HMNB Clyde's activities are identified in a clear and timely fashion.
Provision of an annual SHEF report for HMNB Clyde.
Act as focal point with external Regulatory Authorities.
Manage and maintain an effective organisation suited to the allocated tasks and staffed with competent people who are adequately trained and whose performance objectives are clearly identified.
Education & Qualifications
Essential
Recognised professional qualification in IOSH/NEBOSH/BSC H&S Diploma.
Experience operating at a senior management level.
Ideal
Degree or Post graduate in Health & Safety or Environmental subjects.
Member of appropriate professional institute.
Excellent understanding of legal and statutory frameworks.
