Ground Segment Manager

The Ground Segment Managers / Senior Engineer will be capable of integrating quickly into an established team and undertaking a range of tasks within the Navigation projects. The position requires a candidate with a background in satellite and mission control or systems integration, test and operations.

The Ground Segment Managers / Senior Engineer will be capable of integrating quickly into an established team and undertaking a range of tasks within the Navigation projects. The position requires a candidate with a background in satellite and mission control or systems integration, test and operations.

The successful candidate could be assigned tasks and responsibility in other positions such as Project Manager, Engineering Manager, Procurement Manager, Project Office Manager, etc or in specific engineering disciplines including System Engineering, System AIT, Satellite Control, Ground Control, Operations, Flight Dynamics, Simulators, TT&C stations and Security Engineering.

The successful candidate will work either on the existing Galileo IOV project, the preparation for the future Galileo FOC project or on a range of smaller studies and development projects across the whole spectrum from mission definition through to end-user applications.

The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated and with good communication skills (the working language is English but additional languages e.g. French, German, Italian or Spanish could be useful). Knowledge and experience is required to a good level in some or all of the following disciplines, combined with demonstrable experience in the generic skills:

Specific disciplines:
Navigation system concept definition
Specification, design and development of satellite and mission control systems
System engineering (e.g. requirements definition and requirements management, system architecture and interface design and specification, performance budget management and segment modelling, technical support to RAMS, PA, ILS, etc)
Management of subcontractors developing elements of satellite and mission control systems
Integration and test of ground-based control systems or data processing systems, Satellite and mission system operations, including operations preparation
System certification and accreditation Security systems engineering Navigation applications

Generic skills:
Project management
Engineering Management of a multi-disciplinary team
Project control processes and procedures

The positions demand considerable interaction with external customers, co-contractors and sub-contractors within the Galileo programme. The nature of the work would entail an element of overseas travel to other Companies and Institutions around Europe and, for some positions, could include some limited or extended periods of co-located work at, for example, the designated satellite control centres, the site of the prime Contractor or partner Companies.

Successful candidates will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment.
