GIS Specialist

Our Client, is a global consulting, engineering, construction and operations firm delivering exceptional service to public and private clients worldwide. They specialise in the areas of management Consulting, architectural & geotechnical engineering, to design-build, construction management and operate.

At this time they are seeking to fill the position of Project Director / Client Services ManaGIS Specialist for their offices in Dublin.

As GIS Specialist you will be responsible for Leading small to medium GIS needs assessments or other GIS consulting activities such as strategic plans, upgrade evaluations, etc. You will lead group and individual discussions with clients to gather data, evaluating requirements and developing conceptual designs for systems and applications that will address requirements substantially supporting business process modelling efforts. You will develop hardware/software recommendations and specifications, possibly assisting with the development of hardware and/or software testing algorithms, and performing testing. Conceptualising and designing moderately to very complex databases of, including designs that incorporate spatial data. You will review data sources for complex project activities and recommending approaches for data conversion, migration/manipulation, quality control, quality assurance, etc. (for review by others).

You will also be involved in the supporting of end users for specific applications, Training staff and clients, in one-on-one or group situations, You will manage large projects, Contributing to monthly workload process for projects. Identifying and tracking follow-on work opportunities through leads tracking process. On production manager track, you will oversee the work of 3 to 7 interns and/or junior GIS staff. Fielding GIS support requests and directing appropriate work to production staff, handling higher level requests personally, and/or shipping to other production centers, Contributing monthly to workloads process. On business development track, assisting with proposals and participating in interviews, Possibly leading small proposal efforts in their entirety

The Ideal candidate will have a B.Sc./B.A. or M.Sc. in geography, geology, engineering, planning, mathematics or a related field. You should have four years' experience applying GIS technology with B.S., or 3 years' with M.Sc. You should have experience with or be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, UML Tools, ArcInfo 9.x, ArcEditor 9.x, ArcView 9.x, ArcGIS Extensions, Model Builder, ArcIMS, ArcGIS Server, ArcSDE, ArcPad, GPS Unit, Internet Explorer, VBA for ArcGIS, ArcIMS, Autodesk MapGuide, Avenue, Visual Stuido 2005, VM Ware. You should have excellent time management skills, be competent in HTML, Javascript and Visual Basic/VBA programming. You should have strict attention to detail where errors are not easily corrected.
