A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Functional Safety Engineer, Safety Norms and Compliance to join the Power division of one of the world leaders in transport and energy infrastructure.
The Power Division, based in Switzerland, is a large and well-established company specialising in electricity generation equipment and services and is one of the worlds leading suppliers in the field of power station construction.
This is your chance to contribute your expertise to the Steam Turbine R&D Execution organization of the Turbomachines group based in the beautiful town of Baden and take charge of the introduction and maintenance of procedures to ensure the functional safety of all products and processes in accordance with internal, national and international norms and standards.
As Functional Safety Engineer, you will ensure the adequate design, documentation and validation of safety critical components and functions, e.g. control and safety systems and monitor the implementation of specifications for components and processes. You will also define IEC61508 and/or ISO13849 certification requirements and strategies and lead certification activities. In addition, you will execute, coordinate and document risk and reliability analyses, e.g. HAZOP and ensure definition and application of corporate, departmental and group standards concerning processes, quality assurance and tools. You will also establish and maintain work instructions and templates for product and process analysis and identify technology development needs.
Qualified to degree level in electrical or mechanical engineering with an emphasis on process or control engineering, you will have proven experience in turbine, power plant and/or process engineering as well as experience in probabilistic risk assessment.

You will be familiar with relevant international codes and standards and have a sound knowledge of power plant operation and safety aspects and safety and reliability engineering. With a background in mathematics, you will have a basic understanding of electronic/electrical engineering, hydraulics and steam turbine system design. An open-minded, customer- and results-oriented team player with good IT, analytical and problem-solving skills, you are keen to further enhance your knowledge in the area of functional safety.
German language classes will be on offer at an onsite language school and a willingness to learn is essential.
